Tish and Tom Satre have started their retirement dream and created Alaska Quest Charters. We bought a 62 ft custom steel trawler with the idea we would take folks on weeklong adventures in SE Alaska. Whale watching, bear watching, fishing, kayaking, and exploring hidden coves and hot springs will be our goal as we circle Admiralty Island. Two couples can join us each week from our port base in Juneau. Captain Tom has over 30 years of experience on Alaskan waters and Tish will cook the meals and take care of our guests. We are spending this winter refurbishing the Alaska Quest and will be ready to begin our season in May 2010.
Tish and Tom are both cancer survivors and when looking at where they wanted to be in the next few years, they chose the Alaskan waters. The Alaska charter boat business is pretty competitve but with Tom being born and raised in Juneau and having cruised the local waters as a sportsfisherman, sailor and past Commodore of the Juneau Yacht Club, you’d be hard pressed to find someone with more experience in the area. Tom has retired twice, once from his own wholesale food business and most recently from Northland Services, a tug, barge and trucking firm. Tish ended a long career with the University of Alaska Southeast, served as president of Glacier Valley Rotary and of a local non-profit, Cancer Connection. As they make this transition, they hope to share their local knowledge with others as they cruise the incomparable glacial waters of Alaska. Tish and Tom are part time residents of Pt.Ludlow, WA during the winter and are spending time refurbishing the Alaska Quest in the Pt Townsend boatyard.
